What’s in a name or number? Ask the postman or any of the emergency services.
Streets are named and properties numbered when they are first constructed. From time to time it becomes necessary to make changes. We undertake negotiations with owners and developers, as making changes is never undertaken lightly because of the inconvenience it could cause.
If a property is not registered the occupier will find difficulties in obtaining services and postal deliveries. It could also cause difficulties for Emergency Services.
Under the Public Health Act 1925, it is the council’s responsibility to allocate house numbers and road names to new developments as well as liaising with the Royal Mail to obtain a postal code for property.
To apply for a new or amended registered address please fill in a Street naming and numbering application form.

Visit KCC Highways Services to use the online fault reporting tool or phone 08458 247 800. You will require an e-mail address to complete an online report.
