It is with pride I introduce Thanet District Council’s new Corporate Plan which will run from 2016 to 2020.
The plan identifies the priorities for the council over the next four years and the values which we will embed to help us achieve these goals. During the process of identifying these priorities I was keen to move away from the all-encompassing approach of my predecessors, and have focused our thoughts and plans on three key areas. This will provide us with the direction and determination needed to help Thanet grow through what is an increasingly challenging financial climate.
We want Thanet to be a clean and welcoming place, encouraging residents and visitors to take pride in our environment. We will introduce a balanced approach of education and enforcement to ensure our district is respected and enjoyed by all. Recycling will continue to be at the heart of our collection services and we will be developing new recycling and waste solutions for our towns and villages.
We will continue to develop strategic partnerships to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. We will ensure that we have the right housing provision for those most in need of our help; we will work with the police and other partners to continue to reduce anti-social behaviour, improving the lives of everyone who lives, works, and visits our communities
For Thanet to really thrive, we need to continue to make it a place where businesses want to come and grow. Their investment, along with the drive of local residents, will ensure that Thanet provides a home for a diverse range of industry and commerce to prosper and create more good jobs for our residents. We will work with our partners in education and industry to support our young people in developing the skills they need to be part of a highly skilled workforce
The next four years will be challenging, but I am confident that we will achieve our goals and once again instil a sense of pride in our home.
