Referendum
A referendum relating to the Broadstairs & St Peters Neighbourhood Plan Review will be held on 26 October 2023
The question which will be asked in the referendum is ‘Do you want Thanet District Council to use the neighbourhood plan review for Broadstairs & St Peters to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’

The Referendum Version of the Neighbourhood Plan is produced by Broadstairs & St Peters Town Council. Decision Statement
The Council has now issued its Decision Statement that recommends that the Neighbourhood Plan, along with recommended Modifications from the Examination, can proceed to referendum.
A schedule of the Modifications are appended to the Decision Statement for ease of reference, but can also be found in the Examiner Report
Where a Decision Statement has been issued detailing an intention to send a neighbourhood plan to referendum, the plan can be given significant weight in determining planning applications.

Final report
The Examiner has now sent his final report and concluded his Examination of the Broadstairs & St Peters Neighbourhood Plan Review. The Council will report the main findings of the report, and the next steps, to Cabinet.
The Broadstairs & St Peter’s Neighbourhood Plan was ‘made’ in May 2021. Broadstairs & St Peter’s Town Council have been reviewing the Plan, and have submitted its proposed 2nd Edition of the plan to us. We are currently consulting on the 2nd Edition Neighbourhood Plan until 23 March 2023. Please visit our consultation pages to read the plan and make comments.
The independent Examination of the Broadstairs & St Peter’s Neighbourhood Plan Review is currently underway. The Council, in agreement with Broadstairs & St Peters Town Council, has appointed Derek Stebbing to carry out the Examination
On 21 April 2023, the Examiner sent a letter setting out his Initial Determination and Procedural Matters to Broadstairs & St Peter’s Town Council and Thanet District Council.
