Energy Support Schemes
Local Authorities are currently helping other government departments to deliver two further energy support schemes.
The Council’s role in both schemes is to make payments to successful applicants. We cannot take any initial applications.
Energy support scheme scams
If you have received a letter saying you are eligible for the scheme it will ask you to search on the gov.uk website. Any communication such as an email, text message or phone call directing you to a specific link may be harmful or a scam. These scams tend to include a link to a fake but very convincing website designed to trick victims into submitting personal information such as bank details, a password or a credit card number.
Information about the latest energy support schemes
This scheme is to provide equivalent support to domestic households who have not automatically received EBSS support, as they do not have a domestic electricity supply contract. A payment of £400.00 will be made to eligible households.
The scheme targets households who are responsible for paying for energy used in their main home as part of a service charge, rent or other arrangement. In all cases the property for which support is being claimed must be the sole or main residence of the applicant and to be eligible, households must be able to provide sufficient proof of address to confirm that is the case.

PermalinkThis scheme is to ensure that people who use alternative fuels for heating, such as oil, but who also do not have an electricity account, can still receive a payment of £200 AFP Payment (those who do have an electricity account will receive their £200 via a credit on their electricity bill).
