How do I start volunteering in sport?

Sports Volunteering

The Sport Matters team operates the 'Sport Matters Volunteering' scheme which is aimed at providing volunteer opportunities for anyone aged 16+.

 The scheme has two categories;

  • Co-operative StreetGames Young Volunteers (16-25yrs) and
  • Community Sports Volunteers (anyone aged over 25). 

Volunteering is a great way to boost your confidence, self-esteem and most of all volunteering is a great way to boost your CV and life skills. 

Most of all Volunteering in Sport is enjoyable and rewarding! It is great for you but also great for the club you are volunteering for.

Co-operative StreetGames Young Volunteers

Working in partnership with national charity StreetGames UK, this scheme is aimed at any young person aged 16 - 25 years providing them volunteering opportunities within the community. 

All Volunteers who register with the programme receive;

  • Opportunity to gain a Sports Leaders UK Qualification
  • FREE hoody and T-shirt on application
  • Opportunity to be nominated for local and regional Volunteer awards
  • Support a local project or club in your community

Community Volunteer

The 'community volunteer' scheme is aimed at anyone aged 25 or over.  A community volunteer can have many roles or responsibilities which include;

  • Weekly Sports Volunteering with Sport 4 NRG
  • One-off Community Events
  • Local Sports Club Volunteering
  • All of the above!
