Opportunity to identify sites for possible future development

Thanet District Council is continuing work on its draft Local Plan, which will set out the long term planning strategy for the district and allocate land for future development. We are inviting people to identify any further sites that may be available for development. If you are aware of such a site in Thanet, this is your opportunity to tell us about it.

Any submission should be made using the online form, which can be found on the council’s planning consultation website https://consult.thanet.gov.uk. This sets out the information we need to help us consider such submissions. If you are not already registered on the consultation website, you will need to do that before submitting your site(s). A copy of the assessment form is also available to view online.

A separate submission should be made for each site.  An Ordnance Survey map extract clearly identifying the site will be required to accompany the submission.

If it is not possible to return submissions electronically, a copy of the form can be obtained from the Council’s Strategic Planning Team. Hard copy submissions should be sent to the Strategic Planning Team at Thanet District Council, PO Box 9, Margate, CT9 1XZ.

Sites identified will be assessed in relation to future development needs through the Local Plan process. It is important to be aware that sites brought to our attention will not necessarily be considered suitable or allocated for development.

Submissions should be received by 5pm on Friday 16th March 2018.

If you have previously drawn our attention to a potential development site, there is no need to make a repeat submission unless the circumstances of your original submission have changed, or you can provide additional information to support the submission (such as phasing information). If you have any queries regarding a previous site submission, please contact the Strategic Planning team.

If your site already has planning permission, there is no need to submit a site through this process.
