Council Budget 2014-15

Residents are consulted annually on how they would like to see the Council Tax used to fund services and make improvements.

Feedback from the 2014/15 budget survey was shared with the key managers and councillors responsible for setting the council's budget. The survey results can be seen here

At the full Thanet District Council meeting on 6 February Members voted through the Cabinet recommendation not to increase the TDC aspect of Council Tax for 2014/15. This decision means that the tax will remain at the same level for a fifth year. However, in the long term, with further Government funding cuts on the horizon, the outcome of the council’s recent budget consultation become particularly significant.

Top priorities from the survey were:

  • street cleansing and waste and recycling
  • cleanliness and safety along our extensive coastline
  • park and public spaces
  • economic development and regeneration

“I am delighted that despite the acute financial pressures on the council we are in a position to make no increase in council tax for a fourth year running.

Cllr Rick Everitt, Cabinet Member for Financial Services
