Damp and mould growth
The recently reported loss of two-year old Awaab Ishak is an absolute tragedy. Awaab sadly died as a consequence of high levels of damp and mould growth in his housing association home. His death was entirely avoidable.
On 19 November 2022, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling up Housing & Communities, wrote to all local housing authorities directing them to prioritise enforcement activity in respect of damp and mould growth.
On 28 November 2022, the council responded to the letter.
