        Apply online for a parking permit

        You can apply for or make changes to a parking permit online. Please ensure you have read the information and guidance below before submitting your application.

        Please note that resident car park permits and visitor permits can only be purchased from the Gateway – please see the information below.

        Where are the Resident Parking Zones?

        Many of the roads in Thanet that are close to the town centres are controlled by Residents Parking Zones. We have 6 Residents Parking Zones in the District. You will need to apply for a parking permit if you live in a road in one of these Zones:

        1. Margate West
        2. Margate Addington
        3. Broadstairs Victoria
        4. Birchington
        5. Broadstairs Prospect
        6. Ramsgate Madeira

        Can I get day permits for visitors?

        If you live in one of the resident’s permit areas listed here you can purchase day permits for your visitors.

        A single day ticket costs £3.50 and a book of 20 is £50.

        Proof of residency will need to be shown (e.g. driving licence, utility bill) when purchasing the permits.

        Permits can be purchased from the Thanet Gateway in Margate.

        Where can I purchase a residents car park permit?

        We have launched a new scheme for residents of Thanet for discounted parking in selected car parks.  The scheme will run annually from April to October.

        The permits are £2.50 each or £40 for a book of 20.

        Proof of Thanet residency is required when purchasing the permits, for instance, a council tax bill or driving licence.

        The permits can be purchased from the Thanet Gateway, Cecil Street, Margate.

        There are 5 car parks included in the scheme, these are:

        Albion Street Broadstairs

        Broadstairs Harbour Broadstairs

        Chandos Square Broadstairs

        Joss Bay Broadstairs

        Marina Esplanade Ramsgate

        Read the Residents Permits Conditions of Issue

        Conditions of issue — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

        (a) For Residents’ Permits, Sections 1 to 3 should be completed (the vehicle registration number is essential and does not exceed 3500 kilograms) and this application returned, together with the appropriate remittance made payable to THANET DISTRICT COUNCIL, along with your DVLA documents as proof of ownership and residency, and an additional proof of residency within the area. Permits will only be issued if the correct current documentation is attached.
        (b) Residents Permit maybe obtained online at www.thanet.gov.uk/permits
        (c) The use of Residents’ Permits is subject to the regulations contained in the current On-Street Parking Order, copies of which are available for inspection at this office.
        (d) Each type of Permit will only be valid in the area it is issued for parking in time limited bays only (not pay and display).Please see overleaf for details
        (e) On change of a vehicle there will be a £5 administration charge, the new permit will not be issued unless the old permit is surrendered.
        (f) A £25 administration charge will be made for the replacement of a lost or destroyed permit.
        (g) For Business Permits, please contact office for documents that are required for issue.
        (h) Refunds will only be made for full unexpired quarters.

        (j) Privacy Notice The information you provide will be processed by Thanet District Council to administer your permit application. This information will be kept securely and in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.

It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.         Read the Car Parks Season Tickets Conditions of Issue

        (a) The use of season tickets is subject to the regulations contained in the current Off-Street Parking Places Order, copies of which are available for inspection at this office.
        (b) Season tickets may be obtained at the above office by personal call, by post, or over the web at www.thanet.gov.uk/permits
        (c) Each type of Season Disc will only be valid in certain car parks and are issued from the 1st of each month. Please see overleaf for details.
        (d) On change of a vehicle there will be a £5 administration charge, the new disc will not be issued unless the old disc is surrendered.
        (e) A £25 administration charge will be made for the replacement of a lost or destroyed disc.
        (f) Sections 1 to 3 above should be completed (the vehicle details are essential) and this application returned to the address as above, together with the appropriate remittance made payable to THANET DISTRICT COUNCIL
        (g) Refunds will only be made on the season disc for full unexpired calendar months.
        (h) All permits expire on 31 March so payment is worked out by pro-rata on full months. Please contact the parking office for details.
