Council to consider new options for Warre Rec playground
The children’s playground at Warre Rec in Ramsgate has recently been vandalised. The equipment was repaired in October 2022 at a cost of just over £25,000. Estimates indicate that the latest vandalism will cost a further £21,000 to repair.
The council is now looking at different options for the provision of play facilities in that area. Part of the plan is to reduce the likelihood of further vandalism.
Signs have been installed to direct people to the nearest alternative playground. This is in Ellington Park, which is five minutes’ walk away.
Members of the public should report instances of vandalism or anti-social behaviour via our website.
Cllr Steve Albon, Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Coastal Services, said: “I am disappointed that this children’s playground has been vandalised again. The actions of a small minority spoil the facilities for the local communities who should be able to enjoy them safely.”
