Newington Community Centre Access to Opportunities

As part of the Levelling Up Fund, Thanet District Council will be working with the Newington Community Association, to create a new larger kitchen facility to expand on a popular food and cookery program run at Newington Community Centre.

Jan Kattein Architects have been commissioned to develop the plans for the extension. The below image shows one possible design option for the Newington Community Centre. However, these proposals will be developed and refined in the coming months.

The project presents a great opportunity to enhance the existing building and surrounding land, embrace the Newington Community
Association’s passion for food and support their desire to create a community garden – they have recently planted fruit trees on the sunniest part of the land!
