Transition Period

The United Kingdom formally exited the European Union on 31 January 2020 and entered a transition period until 23:00 (GMT) on 31 December 2020.

The EU transition period has now ended.

The new rules are here. New rules apply to things like travel and doing business with Europe. The Government has published advice for individuals, businesses, UK nationals in the EU and EU citizens in the UK.

EU Settlement Scheme

If you’re an EU citizen, you and your family will be able to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

Use of Manston Airport site

To prepare for potential disruption over the Short Straits at the end of the EU transition period, the Manston airport site in Thanet has been earmarked by the Government as a temporary, back-up lorry holding facility.

The proposed use of the site is for a period of six months up to the end of June 2021.
