Thanet Youth Council

The Thanet Youth Council (TYC) was started on 30 November 2022. The TYC is a forum run by young people for young people. It provides a space for local young people to represent the views of the young people at a local level. The TYC gives young people a voice and encourages them to get involved and make their views heard in the decision making process. TYC gives its members the chance to discuss relevant issues, engage with decision makers and contribute to improving the lives of young people within their communities.

TYC members are a vibrant group of young people in school years 7 -13 from across Thanet who meet monthly to discuss current issues, and who have the scope to get involved in different projects across Thanet, helping make Thanet a safer place for all young people to be.

As a TYC member you will get the opportunity to:

• Represent young people in the local area.
• Help make a difference and support change to happen for the young people of Thanet
• Work with the local authority by informing them what the young people of Thanet need, the issues facing young people in Thanet today and offering your expertise of being a young person living in Thanet today.
• Experience new things, make new friends and have fun.
• Access to partner agencies to up-skill your knowledge around current issues through the TYC meetings.
• Provide you with vital skills that will support you into adulthood.
