Westgate-on-Sea draft Neighbourhood Plan Consultation
Thanet District Council has received a draft Neighbourhood Plan from Westgate-on-Sea Town Council. We are now seeking views on the proposals from local residents and members of the public. This is the last opportunity to comment before the proposed plan goes to the Independent Examiner.
Under the Localism Act 2011, local communities can produce Neighbourhood Plans, setting out policies on the development and use of land in their area. If the Plans are adopted by the District Council they will have the same weight as other Development Plan documents for the District.
The council must now carry out a six week consultation on the draft Plan before submitting it for independent examination. All of the comments received will be passed to the Examiner (appointed by the council but agreed with the Town Council) for their consideration in the Examination process. The Neighbourhood Plan will become a planning policy document if it is successful at Examination and Referendum.
How do I make comments?
The consultation is open from 9am on Thursday 15 September until 5pm on Thursday 27 October 2022.
The draft Neighbourhood Plan is available to view on the District Council’s website. Please visit Westgate-on-Sea Town Council’s website to view the supporting documents and evidence base for the Neighbourhood Plan.
The consultation document will be available to view at:
Westgate-on-Sea Town Council – 78 St. Mildreds Rd, Westgate-on-Sea CT8 8RF
Westgate-on-Sea library – Minster Rd, Westgate-on-Sea CT8 8BP
Comments can either be made online via the District council’s website, emailed to local.plans@thanet.gov.uk or in writing to Strategic Planning, Thanet District Council, PO Box 9, Cecil Street, Margate, Kent CT9 1YW. However, using the online consultation platform is the best way to feedback.
