PermalinkYour buildings are insured against loss or damage caused by the following major events:
Fire and smoke.
Explosion.
Lightning or earthquake.
Riot and civil commotion.
Strikes, labour or political disturbances.
Collision by vehicles, aircraft or animals.
Storm or flood.
Falling trees or branches.
Subsidence, ground heave, or landslip.
Leakage of oil from any fixed oil-fired installation.
Damage caused by falling television aerials or satellite dishes.
Malicious damage.*
Escape of water from any fixed tank.*
Theft or attempted theft.*
*Malicious damage, theft or attempted theft and escape of water from any fixed tank are not insured if the buildings have been unoccupied for more than 30 days.
PermalinkThe policy excess is £250 apart from subsidence which is £1,000. This means that you must pay the first £250 (or £1,000 for subsidence) of each claim.
These apply to each property for each and every loss.
PermalinkTo make a claim you must complete the claim form, providing as much information as possible.
The claim form can be obtained by emailing insurance@thanet.gov.uk with your address and a brief description of the issue.
You should include photographs and two quotes for the work you want to claim for. Include any invoices for make-safe work that has been completed (for example boarding up a window.)
It is the responsibility of the leaseholder to complete the claim form. However, if you need help you can contact our Insurance Officer: insurance@thanet.gov.uk
