Banksy freezer returned
The freezer which council operatives removed from the Banksy installation in Margate has now been made safe. It has been returned to its original position at the site of the artwork today (Wednesday 15 February 2023).
The council has a duty to ensure the ongoing safety of the public; it was necessary to carry out works to the freezer for health and safety reasons.
Banksy raises the important issue of domestic abuse in this artwork. We are in touch with the owner of the property to understand their intentions around the preservation of the piece and to secure the best possible outcome for the local community and victims of domestic abuse.

See allLike many local councils, 2024 marks a significant milestone for Thanet District Council as it is 50 years since it was inaugurated.
Thanet District Council is inviting members of the public to learn more about its designs for the Green Campus, one of Ramsgate’s Levelling Up Fund regeneration projects. The Green Campus will create spaces for training, enterprise and light industry along Military Road. It will be a self-sufficient destination for enterprise and skills development.
A Thanet resident has been successfully prosecuted for fly-tipping the same item in two different areas of the district.
