Advice against bathing or entering the sea at 14 of the district’s beaches is in place today, Saturday 14 June 2025.
Signs are in situ on the affected beaches from West Bay in Westgate-on-Sea to Western Undercliff in Ramsgate.
This follows a confirmed discharge of storm wastewater overnight on Friday 13 June, as a result of heavy rain. Storm wastewater is a combination of sewage and surface water.

There has been a single case of bird flu identified in a gull at Botany Bay. As a precaution, and in line with government guidance, signs are in place to warn the public, including an important message about not feeding birds and information on how to report dead birds or other wildlife.
