This page has all the information you need to apply for a memorial bench. It covers choosing a location, understanding the process, and reviewing costs and timelines. We hope this guide is helpful as you consider this special dedication.
Memorial benches can be placed in many of our council parks and open spaces. They are a way to remember a loved one or to make a dedication of your choice.
There are many locations available across the district. If you have a particular location in mind, please submit the application form. We will then consider your request.
Please note: the burial of ashes under memorial benches is not allowed. This is for legal reasons.

We recommend the Cavendish 1800 Iroko planed and sanded bench.
Please feel free to obtain a quote from Streetmaster, the approximate cost of obtaining a bench through Streetmaster is around £1600, dependent on the type of bench, finish and choice of plaque or inscription.
Please do not order the bench until we’ve approved your application and location.
If your application is successful, please have the bench delivered to our depot: TDC Depot at Dane Park, Park Crescent Road, Cliftonville, Margate, Kent, CT9 1RN.

If your application is approved, benches are usually installed within 12 to 16 weeks. This depends on how long the delivery takes.
- On grass: The cost is £298 + VAT. This includes a concrete base, which is required for benches on grass.
- On a hard surface: The cost is £99 + VAT.
You will be invoiced after the bench has been installed.
