Thanet Works is a new initiative aiming to help people into training, education and/or work.
It aims to help people, particularly those of school age and not in education, employment or training, as well as those on certain out-of-work benefits. It also aims to help those who want to improve their skills or gain qualifications.
The money is coming from central government to Thanet District Council, with £4.098 million from the Working Neighbourhoods Fund.
The money is available until 2011.
The money will be used to do something different, trying out new ideas and new ways of working or supporting particular groups of people.
Local people who want to get on, get into work and improve themselves and employers who want motivated and committed staff who live locally.
The partnership consists of numerous organisations/agencies who have an interest in supporting the communities of Thanet.
