Thanet District Council has today, Tuesday 20 January 2026, announced an opportunity for the local community to provide feedback on what the council should be considering for the regeneration of Jackey Bakers Recreation Ground, Ramsgate.
Working in partnership with the Football Foundation, the council hopes to unlock up to £6 million in grant funding. If successful the funds will improve the facilities at the site. Jackey Bakers Recreation Ground is an important green space. It’s well used by local people for organised sports, outdoor fitness, dog-walking and play.
Local stakeholders, including residents of all ages and community groups, are invited to provide their feedback on what they think council should be considering for the regeneration of Jackey Bakers.
The council would like to understand what facilities and features people value most. These could be play areas, sports facilities, nature spaces, and accessibility improvements.
Residents can get involved by completing an online survey on the council’s public engagement website: Your Voice Thanet. Plans are in place for a number of in-person community engagement events or workshops. Details of these can also be found on Your Voice Thanet.
Cllr Steve Albon, Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Coastal Services said: “We want to make sure that the recreation ground can be used by all Thanet residents, not just sports-lovers.
“Any regeneration of Jackey Bakers must reflect what the community really wants and needs. This is an opportunity for local residents of all ages to have a real impact on, what has the potential to be, Thanet’s flagship recreation and multi-sport hub.”
“I’d urge everyone, including representatives from local sports clubs and community groups, to get involved and have their say. It’s really important that the people who use the space have a say in its future.”
The public engagement activity begins from today, Tuesday 20 January and runs until Monday 2 March 2026.
