Advice against bathing at Thanet beaches
Today (Tuesday 8 September) signs advising against bathing or entering the sea have been put up at beaches from St Mildred’s Bay, Westgate to Ramsgate Western Undercliff.
This precautionary measure follows confirmation from Southern Water that there has been an outfall release within the last 24 hours that may have affected water quality.
Separately, signs advising members of the public against bathing or entering the sea, have been put in place today at West Bay, Westgate and Fulsam Rock, Margate.
This is a precautionary measure, following a pollution risk warning from the Environment Agency, after heavy rain earlier today.
Further information is available on Southern Water’s Rivers and Seas Watch website.
