Advice against bathing lifted at 12 of Thanet’s beaches

Advice against bathing or entering the sea at 12 of the district’s beaches is lifted from 4pm today, Friday 12 June 2026.
All signs warning against bathing or entering the sea will be removed from the affected beaches between Newgate Gap in Margate and Ramsgate Main Sands.

Advice against bathing or entering the sea at 12 of the district’s beaches is in place today, Thursday 11 June 2026.
Signs are being placed at entrances to the affected beaches from Newgate Gap in Margate to Ramsgate Main Sands.
This follows a confirmed discharge of storm wastewater by Southern Water on Wednesday 10 June, following the heavy rain. Storm wastewater is a combination of sewage and surface water.

- Palm Bay Beach
- Botany Bay Beach
- Kingsgate Bay
- Joss Bay
- Stone Bay
- Viking Bay
- Louisa Bay
- Dumpton Gap
- Ramsgate East Cliff
- Ramsgate Main Sands
