Council Leader resignation
Cllr Rick Everitt has today (Thursday 22 April) given formal notice of his resignation as Leader of Thanet District Council. This is effective immediately.
As a result, the Extraordinary Council meeting due to take place tonight has been cancelled as the business due to be discussed is no longer required.
In accordance with the Council’s Constitution, a new Leader of the Council will be elected at the next ordinary meeting of Council.

This follows disruption to collections for some residents since the introduction of new recycling services for 27,000 Thanet households. These changes were introduced in response to new national Simpler Recycling requirements by the government.
