Ramsgate to benefit from Future High Streets Fund
Commenting on the Government announcement that an additional 50 towns will benefit from the £1 billion Future High Streets Fund– Cllr Reece Pugh, Thanet District Council’s Cabinet Member for Corporate Governance and Coastal Development said:
“We welcome the announcement from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and are delighted that Ramsgate is one of the 50 successful towns to be invited to put our application forward into the next phase of assessment of the Future High Streets fund. We want to develop a thriving and sustainable high street and having up to £150,000 to work up detailed project proposals, to be ready to bid for capital funds, is another step closer to achieving that goal.
“We would like to thank the Coastal Community Team, Ramsgate Town Team, Ramsgate Society and Ramsgate Town Council who share our positive vision for the area and helped shape the expression of interest for Ramsgate. This is a great opportunity to unlock the town’s potential for investment, transform the high street and support job creation.”
Today (Friday 14 May), members of the Margate Town Deal Board agreed the list of projects that will be put forward under the Town Investment Plan to secure a Town Deal for Margate worth up to £22.2 million.
Thanet District Council will launch a major initiative next week seeking views on how Ramsgate can be improved for the benefit of all its residents and businesses. The council will be working with a range of partners to develop an investment plan that supports a thriving town centre and benefits all its communities.
