Important information for beach users
We are aware that a number of small oil deposits have washed up on beaches in Thanet.
- Dumpton Gap
- Louisa Bay
- Viking Bay
- Stone Bay
- Joss Bay
- Kingsgate Bay
- Botany Bay
- Walpole Bay
The affected areas are being cleared and warning signs put in place to advise beach users to take extra care on the beach in these locations, until the warning signs have been removed.
The council continues to monitor the beaches and is working with the relevant partners, including the Environment Agency.
Dog walkers are advised to keep their pets on a lead at these locations.

Increased resources to support the council’s waste and recycling service are now in place. These changes were introduced in response to new national Simpler Recycling requirements by the government.
