Grants and training opportunities

The Active Thanet service can play a key role in supporting community sports clubs and organisations looking to apply for external grant applications. Whether you’re looking to apply for new equipment, develop an innovative sport or health project, or make much needed improvements to your club house, we can provide support with your planning, review your applications and in some instances work in partnership to prepare consortium grant applications.  We can also support you in other areas including:

  • How to create club documents e.g. constitutions, volunteer role descriptions or policies and procedures.
  • How to access training opportunities through NGB’s and other training providers
  • How to write revenue grant applications
  • Support and advice with facility improvements
  • Workforce development
  • Statistical analysis from participation to health inequalities data

We work closely with National Governing Bodies of Sport and can assist clubs in obtaining the nationally recognised ‘ClubMark’ award.

The team are very experienced in helping those who are preparing funding bids with the relevant funding organisations.  If you are looking to apply for a much larger grant application which will have a significant impact for the population of Thanet please email: community.safety@thanet.gov.uk

There are many organisations that provide a wide range of funding streams to help develop your club or organisation further.  Please see the funding bodies below that can support your funding requirements.

Whether you are a village club who needs to purchase extra equipment or a multi-million pound facility that hosts Olympic athletes, Sport England have a funding programme that can help you.  Check out the current funding opportunities through the Sport England website.
