Due to weather conditions causing dangerous rip currents today (Wednesday 3 September), the RNLI has raised a red beach flag at Ramsgate Main Sands.
Do not enter the water: the red flag indicates a severe hazard.
Water conditions are unsafe for swimming and other water activities.

Thanet District Council has been awarded up to £20million of government funding for Ramsgate, through the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme.
Update – 9 October 2025: Following an evacuation of residents at four roads in Margate yesterday evening, the Emergency Services confirmed that they were able to return home at midnight (Thursday 9 October).
