The Teenage Market is back in Margate with a festive twist!

On Saturday 29 November 2025, Thanet will host a Festive Teenage Market. The event is happening between 11am and 4pm at The Centre, Margate (in front of Peacocks).

The Teenage Market is a platform for young people to show their creative skills, connect with the community and develop business experience. As many as 50 young entrepreneurs from across Thanet, selected to ensure variety, will sell their creations at the market. Throughout the day, talented young performers will take to the stage to add to the festive spirit.

There are still a few spaces left for stallholders and performers. Any young people aged 8 to 25 who would like to apply should visit the Margate Festive Teenage Market webpage

The Festive Teenage Market takes place alongside Christmas in Margate, an event organised by the Thanet Virtual High Street group, taking place in the High Street and town centre. It builds on the success of four previous Teenage Market events in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, and marks the return of the Festive Teenage Market, first held in Margate in November 2024.

The success of the Festive Teenage Market relies as much on the support of local people and businesses, as on the young stallholders and performers taking part on the day. Local businesses can show their support by displaying promotional posters in their windows. They can also offer special deals or activities on the day or even provide space for performers.

Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth at Thanet District Council, said: “Thanet hosted its first ever Teenage Market in July 2024, and since then, it has gone from strength to strength. Last year’s Festive edition of the market was a huge success, and I’m delighted to see it return to The Centre as part of the Margate at Christmas event with more stalls than ever. The quality and range of stalls as well as performers never fails to impress me, along with the enthusiasm, creativity and mutual respect shown by the young people that take part.

“I really hope that as many people as possible will come along to the market to show support. The young people will have put in a lot of hard work designing their stall and creating products to sell. This is also an opportunity to shop local, pick up some Christmas gifts and explore Margate’s independent businesses.

“I’d like to thank our local partners, East Kent Colleges Group, Harvey Waste Management, which is providing general waste and recycling bins on the day, and management company for The Centre, Sheet Anchor Evolve.”

Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, said “Having seen the impact that our events have made on the lives of young people, I’m delighted that Thanet District Council is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.”
