The Teenage Market returns in Broadstairs

On Saturday 20 September 2025, Thanet will host the fourth Teenage Market, and the first to be held in Broadstairs.

The event is happening between 11am and 5pm in Pierremont Park, Pierremont Avenue Broadstairs CT10 1JX.

Young entrepreneurs from across Thanet will sell their creations at the market. There will be up to 31 stalls, with stallholders selected to ensure a varied offer. On the day there will also be a vibrant performance space showcasing talented young musicians.

There are a few spaces left. Any young people aged 8 to 25 who would like to apply to run a free stall or perform on the day should visit the Broadstairs Teenage Market webpage

This market builds on the success of three previous Teenage Market events, held in Margate and Ramsgate. The Teenage Market is a platform for young people to show their creative skills, connect with the community and develop business experience.

The success of the Broadstairs Teenage Market relies as much on the support of local people and businesses, as on the young stallholders and performers taking part on the day. Local businesses can show their support for the Broadstairs Teenage Market by displaying posters in their window. They can also offer special deals or activities on the day to encourage people to visit their business.

Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth at Thanet District Council, said: “I’m so pleased that the Teenage Market is making its first appearance in Broadstairs this year. The Teenage Market events are going from strength to strength, with markets in all three main towns this year.

“More than 70 young people have taken part across the three Teenage Markets so far, and between them made over £9,500. This is very encouraging, and shows the amount of hard work, dedication and enthusiasm the young entrepreneurs put into their stalls and products. I was also impressed by the way the young people gave each other moral support, in the lead up to the event. The performances by local young musicians are key to creating a buzz at each of the events.

“I hope that as many people as possible will come along to this next Teenage Market in Broadstairs, to show their support. The young people will have put in a lot of hard work designing their stall and making things to sell. This is also an opportunity to support your high street and visit local businesses.”

Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, said “Having seen the impact that our events have made on the lives of young people, I’m delighted that Thanet District Council is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.”

The Teenage Market is funded and hosted by Thanet District Council as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding, with support from Broadstairs and St Peter’s Town Council, East Kent Colleges Group and Harvey Waste.

There is a second Festive Market planned in Margate on Saturday 29 November 2025, as part of the Christmas in Margate programme. Applications for the Festive Market in Margate are open, via this link

The Teenage Market is a national initiative set up to champion the next generation of market traders. Further information about the Festive Teenage Market is available on The Teenage Market website
