The Teenage Market returns in Ramsgate

On Saturday 5 July 2025, Thanet will host the third Teenage Market, and the first to be held in Ramsgate.

The event is happening between 11am and 5pm in the town centre, to coincide with Ramsgate Day

Young entrepreneurs from across Thanet will sell their creations at the market. There will be up to 30 stalls, with stallholders selected to ensure a varied offer. On the day there will also be a vibrant performance space showcasing talented young musicians.

There are a few spaces left. Any young people aged 8 to 24 who would like to apply to run a free stall or perform on the day should visit the Ramsgate Teenage Market webpage

This market builds on the success of two previous Teenage Market events, held in Margate in 2024. The Teenage Market is a platform for young people to show their creative skills, connect with the community and develop business experience.

The success of the Ramsgate Teenage Market relies as much on the support of local people and businesses, as on the young stallholders and performers taking part on the day. Local businesses can show their support for the Ramsgate Teenage Market by displaying posters in their window. They can also offer special deals or activities on the day to encourage people to visit their business.

Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth at Thanet District Council, said: “I’m so pleased to see that the Teenage Market is going from strength to strength, with markets in Ramsgate and Broadstairs, as well as Margate this year.

“More than 60 young people took part across the two Teenage Markets in 2024, and between them took over £6,000. This is an impressive figure which I’m sure was due to the quality of the products on sale, as well as the enthusiasm of all the young people involved. The performances of local young musicians really added to the festival spirit of both events too.

“I hope that as many people as possible will come along to this next Teenage Market in Ramsgate, to show their support, but also to enjoy what will be a great day in the town. The young people will have put in a lot of hard work designing their stall and making things to sell. This is also an opportunity to support your high street and visit local businesses.”

Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, said “Having seen the impact that our events have made on the lives of young people, I’m delighted that Thanet District Council is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.”

The Teenage Market is funded and hosted by Thanet District Council as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding, with support from East Kent Colleges Group.

There are two more Teenage Markets planned for 2025. Applications are open for the Broadstairs Teenage Market on Saturday 20 September, via this link. A second Festive Market is planned in Margate on Saturday 29 November, as part of the Christmas in Margate programme. Applications for the Festive Market will open in the summer.

The Teenage Market is a national initiative set up to champion the next generation of market traders. Further information about the Teenage Market is available on The Teenage Market website
