Morelli’s Ice Cream Parlour

Brief description

Morellis Ice Cream Parlour has the reputation of being ‘the place you must visit when visiting Broadstairs.’

The Art Deco designed interior has sea views overlooking Viking Bay and Victoria Gardens. The building has floor to ceiling windows which optimise the views. The parlour has retained its period details including the soda fountain, juke box, pink leatherette booths, white Lloyd Loom rattan chairs and Formica topped tables. The serving counter features a mirrored wall and images of their well-known sundaes.  Outside there is a row of tables and chairs immediately in front of the building.

History

This ice cream parlour was opened by Mario Morelli in 1932 and is still owned and run by the Morelli family (5th generation).  The building was expanded and upgraded in 1959 and the iconic store still retains its Art Deco charm.
