Our Major Emergency Plan
Emergencies can happen at any time, usually without warning. To make sure we are ready to protect our community, we have a Major Emergency Plan in place.
This plan outlines how we structure and manage our overall emergency response. It also includes specific, dedicated plans for:
- Temporary shelter and homelessness – how we support people who are displaced.
- Media and communications – how we keep the public informed.
- Ports and harbours – how we handle emergencies on our coast.
- Flooding response – our plan for rising water levels.
- Oil pollution – how we protect our beaches and marine life.
- Environmental health emergencies – managing immediate risks to public health.
