Event for Thanet’s residential landlords and property agents

Landlords and managing agents with responsibility for residential properties in Thanet are invited to a free event with access to expert advice and council support, on Friday 18 September 2026.

Hosted by Thanet District Council in partnership with the Thanet Landlords’ Focus Group, the annual event is at the Queens Road Baptist Church, Broadstairs. Doors open at 12.30pm, for a 1pm start. Light refreshments will be provided upon arrival.

This year’s event features informative presentations from key industry experts, including Landlord Focus Group Chair, David Votta, and Paul Shamplina, Founder of Landlord Action speaking on professional landlording. Speakers from the RISE team, and representatives from Thanet District Council’s Landlord Liaison Team will also share their expertise. 

A question and answer session with panel members and attendees is planned. Attendees are invited to submit questions in advance. Throughout the afternoon, there will be opportunities to network with fellow professionals and engage with speakers.

Officers from the council’s Housing Options, Private Sector Housing, and Home Energy teams will provide guidance on the support the council can offer landlords. This includes details on grants to improve home energy efficiency, fee-free tenant placement, assistance with empty properties, and help to prevent evictions. Partner agencies, including the Department for Work and Pensions, Kent Police and Thanet Community Safety team and local letting agents, will be there on the day.

Cllr Helen Whitehead, Cabinet Member for Housing at Thanet District Council, said: “We know just how challenging the rental market is, both for residents facing cost of living pressures and limited housing availability, and for landlords supporting them. We have run this event for over ten  years, with the specific aim of building and maintaining strong relationships with local landlords. It provides an opportunity to discuss shared challenges and to offer resources and support, and for us to work together to meet the needs of residents.

“Every year, this event offers a vital space for landlords and managing agents to connect,  gaining practical insights on topics that affect them and their tenants, and link in with the council to support residents in housing need. There are opportunities to learn about the council’s comprehensive support, from eviction prevention to empty property assistance. By working collaboratively we can help to ensure that tenants benefit from  high-quality, energy-efficient housing, which is our constant aim and the aim of all responsible landlords.”

Landlords and managing agents who would like to attend the event should complete the online booking form by Friday 11 September 2026.
