Minnis Bay

Brief description

This long rural sandy bay has some areas with shingle and rock.  The whole of the bay is lined with a stone promenade which has stone steps to give access to the bay.  There is also a slope which is used to launch jet skis and boats.  The beach is very popular with kite surfers. At low tide there is a vast expanse of sand accessible from one side of the bay to the other. However, at high tide the bay is completely covered by the sea. There is a small grassed incline from the stone promenade up to the higher walkway which is used by cyclists and walkers and is part of the Viking Coastal Trail. This area is very popular and links Minnis Bay to Reculver Towers.

Minnis Bay is a Blue Flag bay 2019

Bike hire including ‘Surrey’ bikes are available to hire from VCT Bike Hire.

NB There is a dog ban from 1 May to 30 September on this beach.

The bay was used as part of the filming for BBC production of D Day – The Last Heroes.
