Ramsgate Future’s Town Investment Plan Is Published
Ramsgate Future’s Town Investment Plan, which sets out a vision to transform the town, has been published today (Thursday 20 January 2022). This is an action plan for the town, created by the people of Ramsgate.
Following Ramsgate’s recent funding successes such as the Levelling Up Fund, the High Street Heritage Action Zone and Future High Street Fund, Thanet District Council – in partnership with key stakeholders, communities and businesses – wanted a guide to support future investment in the town.
The Town Investment Plan creates a tool for organisations to use for their own funding bids, and provides justification to potential investors for why they should invest in Ramsgate. Importantly, the priorities and projects included are those that have been identified by the local community.
To facilitate the creation of this Plan, the council provided specialist support including activities to engage with local businesses, community groups, funding partners and members of the public. Statistical evidence and consideration of existing policies was used to inform these views.
Cllr Ash Ashbee, Leader of Thanet District Council, said:
“The Ramsgate Town Investment Plan marks a huge step forward in the regeneration of Ramsgate. It sets out very clearly the projects that have been identified as being of greatest value to the town. The fact that the Plan has been created by people who live and work in Ramsgate, and who care about its future and the changes that will make the greatest impact, only adds to its importance. I look forward to seeing the wide range of projects as they start to take shape.”
The Town Investment Plan aims to guide the way funds are received and act as a roadmap to direct future investment. It is a tool for everyone to use, providing evidence, both statistical and through community and stakeholder engagement, to inform funding bids.
More information, including the full document, an explainer video, copies of the engagement summary and Evidence Atlas can be found on the Ramsgate Future webpage.
