Thanet’s third Teenage Market was held in Ramsgate town centre on Saturday 5 July 2025, to coincide with Ramsgate Day.
In all, 31 stallholders aged between 8 and 24 years, took part. The diverse range of imaginative products up for grabs included jewellery, original artwork, customised t-shirts, crochet gifts, upcycled and 3D printed toys, dog treats and more.
Between them, the young entrepreneurs from across Thanet generated more than £3,500 in sales.
Talented young singers, musicians and dancers added to the upbeat atmosphere in the town centre, taking centre stage on the performance space.
This Ramsgate edition of the market builds on the success of two previous Teenage Market events, held in Margate in 2024. The Teenage Market is a platform for young people to show their creative talents, connect with the community and develop skills around entrepreneurship and business.
Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Property at Thanet District Council, said: “The third Teenage Market, and the first in Ramsgate, was a resounding success. I’m so pleased to see the Teenage Market going from strength to strength, with markets still to come in Broadstairs, as well as Margate this year.
“Around 75 young people have taken part across the three Teenage Markets so far, and between them earned over £9,500.
“It’s so pleasing to see young people showing off their creativity and enthusiasm. Ramsgate town centre was buzzing on Saturday, it really was a great day for everyone that was a part of, or came along to support the Teenage Market and Ramsgate Day. Thank you to the local businesses that supported the event by displaying posters, running special events and offering deals on the day.”
The Teenage Market is funded and hosted by Thanet District Council as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding, with support from East Kent Colleges Group.
There are two more Teenage Markets planned for 2025. Save the date for the next Teenage Market at Pierremont Park in Broadstairs on Saturday 20 September. Young people age 8-24 can apply for a stall, or to perform, via this link.
A second Festive Market is planned in Margate on Saturday 29 November, as part of the Christmas in Margate programme. Applications for the Festive Market will open later in the summer.
The Teenage Market is a national initiative set up to champion the next generation of market traders. Further information is available on The Teenage Market website.
