Issued by Thanet District Council on behalf of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board
Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board has today launched a new £150,000 grant scheme to empower local groups to deliver visible, positive improvements across Ramsgate.
The Ramsgate Pride in Place Programme: Community Action Grant Fund is funded through the UK Government’s national Pride in Place programme, led locally by the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board. The grant scheme is being administered on behalf of the Board by Ramsgate Town Council, with Thanet District Council supporting the necessary legal checks to ensure the public funding is distributed safely and lawfully.
Local voluntary and community groups, registered charities, social enterprises, micro and small businesses, sole traders, and freelancers are invited to apply for funding.
There is no minimum application value, ensuring that practical, micro-level ideas are just as welcome as larger community initiatives.
To secure funding, applications must directly benefit Ramsgate residents through accessible, inclusive projects that support the town’s Pride in Place priorities and build a year-round economy.
- Open It Up: Revitalising the town centre, supporting local trade, and creating sustainable employment.
- Clean It Up: Improving public spaces, cleaner, greener streets, and restoring civic pride.
- Light It Up: Creating brighter, safer, and more accessible public spaces.
- Raise It Up: Investing in young people, skills, and future aspirations.
- Join It Up: Connecting health, wellbeing, and community support services so no one feels left behind.

Bernie Morgan, Chair of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board, said:
“Ramsgate has an incredible range of community organisations, businesses and local people with ideas that can make a real difference to our town. This new Community Action Grant is about turning local ideas into practical action and ensuring that Pride in Place investment benefits residents today as well as supporting the long-term vision for Ramsgate. I would encourage anyone with a project that can help improve our town, support local people or strengthen our year-round economy to take a look at the guidance and consider applying.”
Cllr Rick Everitt, Leader of Thanet District Council and member of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board, added:
“This new grant scheme provides a vital boost for Ramsgate’s local economy, empowering community groups and local businesses to deliver sustainable projects that create long-term benefit. By focusing on our five strategic priorities, we are enabling grass-roots initiatives that revive public spaces and strengthen our community’s future. I strongly encourage local groups across Ramsgate to put forward their ideas and submit an application.”
Polly Billington, Labour MP for East Thanet, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero) and member of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board, said:
“There is so much energy and enthusiasm to transform Ramsgate among small organisations, and this Community Action Grant is designed exactly to help them access the funding they need to make a real difference. I’m looking forward to brilliant ideas being put forward by our community and seeing them supported as part of this ten-year programme.”
Louis Palfrey, Co-Director of Neurodivergent Friends in Thanet (NDFT) and member of the Ramsgate Neighbourhood Board said:
“The Pride in Place Programme is about making sure that everyone can feel a genuine sense of belonging in Ramsgate. This new fund is an opportunity to support local projects that meet the community’s priorities and can make our town more accessible, inclusive and welcoming. If you have an idea that could make a difference for those who sometimes find it harder to access or feel part of what our town has to offer, I’d urge you to put it forward.”
