Thanet was one of 70 local authorities across the country who were selected to receive support when the Welcome Back Fund was announced by the Government in April 2021. As part of this, the Government’s High Street Task Force visited Margate in October 2021.
This visit involved a government-funded consultant studying the high street and town centre, and providing advice on how it can be improved to attract more people. The consultant also attended a meeting with council representatives and people from the local business community who shared their insight and experiences.
Although the support from this visit focused on Margate, there is scope for the advice to be replicated across other high streets in the district too.
