Thereโ€™s also free support if you want to quit smoking or vaping. Our goal is to help people in the community join in activities that support good health.

We’re hosting free Street Sport sessions four times a week in Dane Park.

These sessions run until Tuesday 26 August 2025. They’re for everyone, no matter your age or ability, and they’re all about getting outside, getting active, and having fun.

You don’t need to be good at sports or have tried these activities before to join in. We can set up games like volleyball, badminton, tennis, football, or rounders, and we’ll adjust each session so it’s fun for everyone.

These events are made possible with funding from the Active Kent and Medway Multi-Sport Fund.

We have received funding from Cycling UK’s “The Big Bike Revival” to help more people to start using bikes for active travel in Summer 2025.

27 bike repair events have been set up to help you get your bike ready to ride again.

We’ve also planned guided bike rides. These are great if you want to feel more confident on your bike, meet other cyclists, or discover new routes.

Smokefree Spaces

In 2025, we received funding from Kent County Council’s Smokefree Spaces scheme to design and display “Smoke-Free” signs in Ramsgate High Street and seven play parks across the district.

We held 15 workshops where people could help design the signs. We also ran 14 events in the parks and on Ramsgate High Street to talk to the community. For these events, we worked with:

  • The NHS “One You” Smoke Free Team
  • The SEK Cancer Awareness Team
  • Kent Family Hubs
  • Thanet Libraries
  • Orbit Housing
  • Discovery Planet

During these events, we recorded over 1,000 conversations with residents about the free NHS “One You” program that helps people stop smoking. The feedback from these conversations helped us successfully apply for a new grant from Active Kent and Medway to continue our stop smoking efforts, starting in September 2025.

Smokefree Spaces is part of the councilโ€™s response to the governmentโ€™s Stop the Start campaign, which aims to help create a smoke-free generation. Recent data has shown that over 80% of smokers started before the age of 20, with many starting much younger.

One You Kent provides advice on giving up smoking and vaping. You can find out more on their website.

Chosen design for Ramsgate High Street

The image was designed by a student from Newington Primary School. The image has drawings of cigarettes, healthy and unhealthy lungs, rainbows and school children. The wording says please don't smoke on the high street, protect our lungs, you can help yourself if you stop now. Keep yourself healthy. Try and help your lungs. You spend lots of money on cigarettes when all they do is damage your lungs. they could also damage ours. Get support to quit smoking: it's well worth it
