St.Peters Churchyard

St Peter’s Churchyard extends over some 9 acres with over 5,000 graves. It is haven for wildlife with many species of flowers and a large variety of trees. If you wish to benefit from exercise and fresh air, we are looking for more volunteers. In the first instance please contact Rev David Tate on 01843 447861.

  • Wear sturdy closed toe shoes (see Hand Tools video)
  • ear work gloves and any PPE provided (see Hand Tools video)
  • Apply high factor sunscreen
  • Use the tools provided (see Hand Tools video)
  • Use the right tool for the job (see Hand Tools video)
  • Check the tool is in good condition before using (see Hand Tools video)
  • Only lift items that have been assessed as safe to lift
  • Take care when lifting making sure to bend your knees when lifting
  • Take regular breaks and keep hydrated (see Hydration video)
  • Respect wildlife and leave it alone
  • Leave no trace – check you have everything with you when you leave (e.g.personal belongings, litter)
  • Return tools that have been provided at the end of the session (see Hand Tools video)
