Action Against Litter – Newsletter Issue 5
We can now confirm the launch of 12 recycling bin units on Friday 15th July. Each bin unit will hold a 360L wheelie bin. Southern Water have donated £10,000 to the project and the Rotary Clubs in Thanet have funded the remainder.
Each unit will be decorated with recycling messages on the front, and pictures from local school children on each side with the message of keeping our beaches clean. We included local schools to help with recycling awareness and Rotary working with the community. The aim, as ever, is to reduce the amount of plastic on our beaches and in our seas.
The units will appear on or near the beaches at:
- Margate: there will be two double units at each end of the main sands
- Broadstairs: one by the Harbour Arm and one on Victoria Parade area
- Ramsgate: one by the mains sands and one by the Harbour car park
- Minnis Bay: by the main slop
- West Bay: along from the main slope
- St Mildred’s Bay: near to the little bridge by the car park
- Westbrook Bay: opposite the loggia
It was not possible to locate any for Kingsgate, Joss or Botany bays due to the difficulty in collection.
