Margate Main Sands

As another busy summer season draws to a close, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped keep Thanet clean.

From Street Cleansing crews working early mornings and late evenings, to the many volunteer litter-picking and beach-clean groups who have given their time throughout the summer holidays, keeping our coastline and public spaces clean has been a real team effort.

Our beaches and promenades welcome thousands of residents and visitors every week during the summer. While the council works hard to manage the additional demand, the choices we all make – using a bin, recycling where possible, taking our rubbish home when bins are full, or joining a litter pick – can make a real difference.

This edition celebrates some of the fantastic work that has taken place across the district this summer, from community litter picking and environmental education to colourful new recycling bins and our award-winning beaches.
