The 7-Day Litter Challenge

Can you make a difference in just one week?

  • Day 1 – Refuse – Say no to one unnecessary single-use plastic item.
  • Day 2 – Reuse – Choose a reusable bottle, cup, bag or container instead of a disposable one.
  • Day 3 – Recycle – Check the recycling guidance and make sure you’re putting your household recycling in the right place.
  • Day 4 – Spot it – While you’re out walking, see how many different types of litter you can spot. Don’t pick up anything dangerous.
  • Day 5 – Bin it – If you see a piece of safe litter, pick it up and put it in a bin – or take it home with you.
  • Day 6 – Share it – Tell someone else one thing you’ve learned about litter or plastic pollution.
  • Day 7 – Take action – Join a local litter pick, organise your own, or make a pledge to reduce your waste.

How many days can you complete?

  • 1 day
  • 3 days
  • 5 days
  • 7 days – Litter Legend!

Bonus challenge: Keep a tally of every piece of litter you pick up during the week. How many pieces can you stop from reaching our coastline?
