DCO for Manston Airport site granted
On Thursday 18 August, the Secretary of State announced that the Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Manston Airport site has been approved.
The application was submitted by Riveroak Strategic Partners who plan to reopen and develop Manston Airport into a dedicated air freight facility.
Manston Airport is a privately owned site. Within Thanet District Council’s Local Plan it is safeguarded for airport related uses. We will now need to address the DCO decision through the update of our Local Plan.
Leader of Thanet District Council, Cllr Ash Ashbee said: “We welcome the announcement from the Secretary of State that a decision on Manston has been reached. We have been pressing for an early decision to draw the matter to a conclusion. Having the certainty of a decision now allows us to proceed with updating our Local Plan and supports the unlocking of potential significant inward investment for the district.”
