On Sunday 14 June 2026, Thanet will host the second Teenage Market of 2026.
Happening between 10am and 5pm at The Pavilion, Harbour Street, Broadstairs, it coincides with the annual Dickens Festival.
The venue will be transformed into a hub for young entrepreneurs from across the district to showcase and sell their unique creations. There will be more than 30 stalls, with sellers chosen to ensure a varied offer. Alongside the stallholders, there will be a vibrant performance space for talented young musicians. There are still a few spaces left for anyone interested in selling or performing live on the day. Applications can be made via the Broadstairs Teenage Market website.
This builds on the success of previous Teenage Market events, held in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. The most recent market happened on Saturday 4 April at Turner Contemporary in Margate, with 24 young stallholders who generated more than £3,300 in sales. In addition, six talented performers added to the atmosphere.
Teenage Market is a platform for young people to develop business experience, showcase their creative skills and connect with their local community. The success of the Teenage Market relies on the support of local people and businesses. Businesses can show their support by displaying posters in their windows.
Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Property at Thanet District Council, said: “It’s great that the Teenage Market is returning to Broadstairs, alongside the annual Dickens Festival. To date, more than 220 young people have taken part in previous markets, collectively generating more than £20,000 in sales. These figures are incredibly encouraging and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm our young entrepreneurs pour into their businesses.”
“Beyond the financial success, I have been deeply impressed by the young peoples’ creativity, their professional approach and how well they support each other on the day. I’m positive that the Teenage Market is helping to shape the next generation of local entrepreneurs and musicians. I really hope that as many people as possible will come along to show their support both for our young people and local businesses.”
Co-creator of The Teenage Market, Joe Barratt, said “Having seen the impact that our events have made on the lives of young people, I’m delighted that Thanet District Council is giving young people a free platform to get their businesses off the ground and showcase their creative talents.”
The Teenage Market is funded and hosted by Thanet District Council with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
