Council invites residential landlords and agents to annual information event
Landlords and managing agents with responsibility for residential properties in Thanet are invited to an essential event on Friday 27 September. The all-day event is hosted by Thanet District Council and happens annually, in partnership with the Thanet Landlords’ Focus Group.
This year’s event will feature informative presentations by barristers from Beckett Chambers, accountancy firm Kreston Reeves, the National Residential Landlords Association and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), with updates on upcoming changes to legislation and Universal Credit. Kent Fire and Rescue Service will also update attendees on fire safety legislation.
The event is on Friday 27 September 2024 and runs from 9.30am – 4pm, at the Queens Road Baptist Church, Queens Road, Broadstairs CT10 1NU. Doors open at 9am, for a 9.30am start.
Officers from Thanet District Council’s Housing Options, Private Sector Housing, and Home Energy teams will be on hand to share information on the support that the council offers to landlords, as well as providing details of the grants available to improve energy efficiency in rented accommodation.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and network throughout the day. A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided, free of charge.
Cllr Helen Whitehead, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “The ongoing cost of living and housing pressures mean that building relationships with local landlords is more important than ever.
“This event is an invaluable opportunity for local landlords and managing agents to come together to network and find out important information on a wide range of subjects that impact them and their tenants. The council offers landlords a wide range of support, including help to avoid evicting tenants, bringing empty properties back into use, and finding tenants without fees.
“By working collaboratively, we can help to provide high quality, energy efficient housing for the people in our communities who really need it.”
Landlords and managing agents who would like to attend the event should register their interest by completing an online form, by Friday 13 September 2024.
